Fog horns Birthday

May 04.05
11.45pm
this little guy was born.
I pushed so hard to not have him born on cinco de mayo
why?
Jules was almost a Halloween baby.
Sophia was born on St. Lucia

I like birthday's to be birthday's and holidays
 to be holidays

We asked Fog horn what he wanted to do on his special day?

Bug hunting !

Not too many bugs out yet...
but what ever ants and flies that could be found was celebrated.

We had a fine Montana spring day
walking in the woods under blue skies and sunshine.

It's simply amazing how fast time flies
-Young man, who said you could grow up so fast?

Hipp Hurra
Gratulerer med dagen!

sick days

My "little one" aka Foghorn is sick today.

Even little Foghorns have to rest....

with his sweet breath, long eye lashes
his scar on his for head he got last week from falling off the monkey bars

wakes up only for a minute

only to snuggle into the warm wool blanket even deeper

...and fall asleep

once again

Life in the fast lane....

Crochet a few little urchins this weekend-very fun.
Nice to you use my own yarn

Had lunch with my dad at the café.
He is 80 years and has Alzheimer's- some days are good- some not.
This time it was great- we speak both Norwegian & American
a good visit.

Met some wonderful locals at the café too
Kelley & Shaun with their little son (so cute)
They have just opened a brewery in town
(if you are in town check them out)
This village is getting some great little businesses
hi Kelley :)

also this week we signed up our oldest for drivers ed

Driving with Jules
is not like driving miss Daisy.

It's more like:
get in
sit down
shut up & hang on

He has a girl friend again so he is on a mission to get his license

Life in the fast lane.

(...and would probably kill me if he knew I was writing this...hehe)

Foghorn has been on the warrior path lately
in love with Vikings, Knights and Indians
and anything that has pointy and shiny edge to it works....

Winter came back
if only for a few days

I don't care
in 2 weeks we are off to sunny Florida!

dreaming of sandy beaches, salt water and sunshine on my shoulders

In other news...

We bought this table this weekend
 It's actually a desk
 underneath it is written
~ co treasury 1933 ~

It has that nice rustic farm house quality
painted a pleasant green
next weekend we are sanding and waxing the top to reveal
 it's true beauty
oak -so it should turn out great

Picked up my needles for the first time in a while
and started knitting a wee bit
...baby steps

What's going on in your neck of the woods?

780 miles

780 miles each month- 5 days a week a 2 hours round trip.
Driving my children to school.

Early and dark mornings the kids still drowsy and sleepy eyed we get in the car and go.....

the ride is filled with

laughter
quiet
anger
smiles
tears
whispers
teasing
music
loud music
conversation
conversation about girlfriends
boyfriends
new friends
"frenemies"
shouting
giggles
worries
stories
sadness
excitement
questions
answers

it's a journey
they have a long way to go

how I do enjoy this amazing ride with them....
they make the scenery beautiful

all 780 miles of it

Skiing in Glacier

We had a lovely weekend skiing in Glacier
in Norwegian you can say it was
"Eventyrlig"
which is hard to translate
....like a story book

Beautiful to explore the park in the stillness of winter.
 quiet.

The herd can enjoy a little peace from all the high speed
hustle & bustle of every day life.
Soft swooshing of the skis gliding across the snow
magical seeing the trees bowing over with snow
the barrenness that a forest fire leaves behind

Our kids have been really sporty about x-country skiing-
(you don't see many kids out there in the park)

Many old timers stop and smile and give us a wink.
Sort of a "secret society" that these elders know about.
 and we share.

Skiing is good for all ages.
In Norway you say you are "born with skis on."

I can't thank my mother enough for taking me weekly night skiing
around Holmenkollen and Frognerseteren as a child each winter
and my grandfather patiently skiing with me on the frozen lakes in Sweden
showing me good technique.

These are beautiful memories that I relive when I ski today in America...in the park.
Maybe one day our children will pass on this wonderful winter sport
and the memories they have skiing in Glacier park to their children....
