Weekending

So Friday chef came home these....
 my favorite
 Tulips

Knowing that he has to fix this:

Chef...is so busy with the cafe renno
there is no time to fix "the brokens" at home.

It finally came to a halt after months- decades of riggers tape
coming off the handle

- it just finally unhinged.

I think even the microwave had enough
 gave up
surrendered

wondering at times how much radiations it spits out being broken????

So this weekend we are ripping the back splash out
and replacing it with old tin and a brand spanking new micro wave
 woo hoo!

yep I know, it's the little things in life...hehe

And of course Fiona
my pockets are filled with apples

She gets a break on the weekend from working during the week
  getting stronger and fit
lunging with a bridle and saddle with the stir ups dangling along side her
so there is lots of progress.

I still have to pinch myself....

Kids are all doing so well in school
they are in for a treat
we are taking them to lunch at the old soda fountain place in town.

If you go
Ivey is having a giveaway
I was so smitten by the line of natural products
I bought a few.

What's going on in your neck of the woods?

F.A.R.M. G.O.L.F!

So this is how our family plays golf.
Farm golf.

Our property sits on old farm land so it's pretty flat which is most excellent for playing
soccer and golf.

Someone kicks the soccer ball to kingdom come
and then the object is to come as close to it with the golf ball

Here the herd is all aligned and "driving" the ball.
(We use foam balls)

Pierre tends to take anything sports very serious
even here amongst the divots and grass clumps
one can never have enough "good form"

Yes, as you can see the master is teaching "foghorn" proper form.

I even heard him ( Pierre) say
- get out of the fairway Camilla

( hehe...I had to chuckle)

Looks like Fifi won this round.

Chicks rule!

Auggie starts the next round..
and mom prays he hits the soccer ball
not Lilly.

So there you have it...
farm golf

All you need are some thrift store golf clubs
a ball (or other target- no dogs!)
some kids
 and of course
Pierre

...to show you proper form and tell you to get outta the fairway.

~ Oh summer where art thou?

Snowflakes softly falling on Luther Vandross

He doesn't care...soccer anyone?

...a river runs thru it
snow keeps on falling and melting.

good time to knit
 plan my flower garden
and dream of warmer days to come...

Summer can't come fast enough for me.

Winter is the season in which people try to keep the house as warm as it was in the summer, when they complained about the heat.

Extraordinary
This may be one of the most beautiful things I have seen in a very long time.
Pure
Simple

Back in the saddle!

Solage

After the weekend disaster
life is getting back to normal again for me.
There are so many perks with getting a new puter- but it also feels like learning a new language
getting used to the new layout and graphics....

I have been spinning up a storm and finding happiness in that my hand doesn't hurt.
yippppeee!
and..... my hand spun is looking like " itself  "again.

"God had him in mind when he made cowboys"

My horse shoer recommended this movie.
A documentary of Buck Brennaman.

I read his book first

It was incredibly eye opening
his life was filled with so much fear and abuse from his violent father.
Buck managed to turn it all around and help so many horses and so many people.

I have the highest respect for this man.

( you don't have to be a horse person to enjoy this book or movie)

Fiona is really progressing.

This is my horse trainer Stephanie
she is helping me start Fiona.
We work together 5 days a week.

Fiona is now lunging with a saddle and bit.

She whinnies when she sees me.
.... yep, feels pretty special, ehem.

I still have to pinch myself
knowing that she belongs to me.
I love how she nudges my pocket to see if there are any hidden apples for her.

***
and last but least
I discovered

...  a sweet blog
 Tracey inspired me to look
 at Quince and Co.
 for some lovely knitting patterns.

 &

 landed in my shopping cart
 yippee skippy for spring knitting.

Yes, I am back in the saddle again!

I lost everything......

Today was supposed to be a happy post!

I certainly did NOT have the luck of the Irish yesterday...
 maybe because I am Norwegian?

I was online checking out one of those travel sites for future plans for the fam.
Something was wrong...all of a sudden this program just swallowed up my puter-
I did everything I could to click out of it.
Turned the pc on and off several times...
more and more programs on my start up menu disappeared.

 Screen turned black....
I had a sinking feeling.

I just knew.

Brutal to see it all vanish in thin air.

 I took the computer in
the PC guys had never seen such rampant and invasive virus,
couldn't even set it back to the day prior.

I lost everything

- all my images,
many of the kids,
my horse,
 yarn
music
fonts
all my files,
 business files
tons of graphic art for my business.

I feel so violated !!!

because some jack ass somewhere
has nothing better to do than destroy others personal property and hard work!

I have to start all over again
reload- upload all my programs

It is truly devastating.

Back up your files.
I was.
 I never got to it
 not fast enough.

Well, I have a new puter.
The darn thing is lovely(can't complain)
runs at lightning speed
hubby insisted on a monster screen.

All I can say is that it sucks
 yes it does
 plain and simple.

Friday

Happy Friday!
 It's raining in Montucky
which is good because at least it's not snowing!
woot- woot!

I can finally see a few Robins and Cow birds
and they are happily chirping along.

Less of this

More of this

M . U . D

and Foghorns bicycle tracks.

Have you seen this?

 I just ordered their catalog
 love!

Before I burst waiting for warmer days...
 I love creating ETSY treasuries
take a look
&

endless inspiration that makes you happy!

We are doing some spring cleaning this weekend
out with all our snow gear!
...and start looking towards spring.

Sundays our family has a tradition
we watch a movie at 4 pm
and then cook a "new recipe" dinner
where the whole gang pitches in.

So what are your weekend plans?

Sunday ski trip in the park pt.deux

Skiing is a dance, and the mountain always leads.
 ~Author Unknown

In the forest we went
even " Mr. Sunshine" came along

Foghorn has become a natural this season

There is the herd...all four of them
warms my heart
seeing them ski like that together
 you Go!

trailing after me like four little ducks in row when they were itty bitty
has paid off.

Getting close

Over the bridge and thru the woods....

Kodak moment
* he smiles *

Auguste is hoping to use his snowskate

made it!
very different from summer time

but the quiet beauty is still here.
I made  all 6 of us
have a moment of silence and take it all in.
I take nature serious.

Skipping rocks in winter time

I can't wait to dive in.

 My dream cabin- house
I would sell everything and move here to the north end of the lake.

...we'll be back again in summer.

Cross country skiing is great if you live in a small country.
