....1 more permit.

Our last and final inspection from the health dept.on Monday to officially open Base Camp Cafe.

Pierre is whipped been pulling 80 hr weeks trying to finish.
I am just tired of all of it.

Opening a cafe is not easy.
Hiring staff, digging up rock, landscaping, painting,
Ordering from BIG companies like Coca Cola & Sysco
( who knew we would ever do that?)
Working on the menu.
Making sure everything is up to code and ADA .
Sticking with our budget..
yeah right, we blew that right out of the water...

It's all a new.
Scary.

Dealing with by passers eager to find out when we are opening
-SOON!
and of course one smarty pants that asked:
" define soon"

So much to learn.
We have a lovely espresso machine from Italy that we are learning how to use next Tuesday.
I am not just a Blogista
soon to be Barrista :)

It was actually a blessing we were so naive going into this endeavor-
had we known we might have not.

Well that's all folks,
I am so tired I am diving into bed with my work clothes and boots on tonite.

See you all in a bit
once Base Camp Cafe is officially open I think Pierre and I can breathe a little easier.

Peace out
bean sprout.

Yarnalong- Oaklet shawl

Oaklet shawl
Fini!

SO here's the thing.... I messed up.
the very last part of the lace pattern
I lost count with the kids running around me asking 250 questions
and 90 degree hot weather
 I spaced...
Yep, so I am being honest here

it is not finished to perfection.
Therefor I am not linking the pattern

But for me it's about the journey- it's a fun pattern to knit and easy
(if you are paying attention)
and already a favorite - imperfections and all.

 I am reading this book.
by
Mark Sundeen
I found it refreshing especially with all the plethora of books out there on how to:
"get rich quick or 101 wealth strategies"

This book has me in deep thoughts
thru out my day
realizing
how much we really have as a society
how much do we really need
...untill satisfied
Appreciating how and where I live in this beautiful country
and finding everyday abundance
feeling extraordinary privileged

I think this book is a life changer for me.

Getting off my soapbox...

Re- inventing!

Summer
the  time I love to sew...don't know why, it just is that way.

I picked up this neat book at the library and I liked quite a few projects.
Very practical.

I like practical

So it was time for my Lucky jeans to get a
Lucky makeover
a re- invention.

I also added some cute material found at the thrift store for the liner.

Voila
a nifty and practical sack from the farmers market or library...or to hold my knitting.

I think the lining turned out pretty cute...
in all this project took me about  a good 2 hrs from start to finish.

Feels good to make something from what you already have around the house.
I have more things cut out and ready to be sewn from this book.
more to come...

Re- inventing is definitely re- warding.

What do you like to do in summer time?

Going to the sun road

Summer has arrived in Montana...and so has more family from Norway.
I have been so lucky this year to have family come twice this summer to visit.

This time, my aunt and uncle Odd & Gro.
Of course it is mandatory to show them our beautiful park so we loaded the kids and some lunch ...and our bathing suits in the car, crossing our fingers that the lake would be warm enough to swim in.

Can you believe it- I am standing on snow!

At 6600ft I feel like I am on top of the world.
Who could ask for anything more...
views forever, sunshine on my shoulders and breathing champagne air.

Well, even with his Hawaiian shirt (dressed himself )
fog horn lost his Aloha spirit and was done with this
 he wanted to go swimming!

Black rock beach.
The water was awesome.

Guess who went swimming!

Beautiful day, we found the sun, snow, peaks and water....

A little doing...

Montana is finally warming up
100 degrees  & sun is shining
we went for our first swim!
Thunder and hot weather
 ice cream,
Sporting bathing suits and sloppy wet towels around my waist all day
seems to be my haute couture these days...not complaining.
and when not soaking up the the sunshine

I do:
A little knitting- some well needed dishcloths
they are tres useful around here...
and I love using up stash.

A little reading- lots of time to just and "be" with foghorn and get lost in book.
A little cooking and trying new recipies.
Just discovered this site
Tasty Kitchen

can you really consider this breakfast?
ehem...sign me up!

A little painting- just having fun with a little paints and rocks.

A little ETSY- yes, I so do love this place.

Here are some of my new favorite shops:

this is the cutest!

What are you up too?

My Water Horse

Fiona is enjoying these hot summer days even more by getting a cool bath. Everything is new to her- so it is always a little nerve wracking to see what her reaction might be.... Teaching her that fly spray was a necessary evil- took almost 14 days -before she understood it was not going to kill her. I am so relieved that she enjoys the water.
Who knows ...maybe she'll come swimming with me at our watering hole in Glacier?
