Winter at Lake McDonald

A lake is the landscape's most beautiful and expressive feature.
It is earth's eye; looking into which the beholder measures the depth of his own nature.

  ~Henry David Thoreau

  1. Dear Camilla, oh you have made my day! I hadn't looked at your blog on my favorites for months as I thought that you were gone from the Internets .... but just a random thought this afternoon made me google you and here you are! (I hope you remember me in the UK!) I don't knit or spin any more as life has taken a new path of work, yoga training and I just suddenly felt creatively sapped. I was thinking about dragging out my camera again? Your horses are gorgeous, hello new horse! Take care and I will enjoy your pictures far away there in the snow. x

  2. I would love to experience Glacier in winter. Other than the Going to the Sun Rd, are most of the other roads open?

    1. Hi Kelly,
Going to the Sun road is closed at Lake McDonald Lodge the whole winter- so you can ski in. It opens officially in June once they reach Logan pass. Everything else is closed- which is great for skiing.

  7. The Thoreau quote spoke to my heart, 'Thank You' for sharing it on your lovely blog. We live on a lake but our winter is usually on the mild side. So to see such beautiful winter lake scenes made me pause and listen to the quiet as I looked out at the still water. You live in such a beautiful part of our country!

Sounds like you have come to a fork in the road in your life journey. I've always chose the path less traveled. The older I get I need more quiet. Sending you thoughts of peace to keep in your pocket!

May the Warm Winds of Heaven
Blow softly upon your house.
May the Great Spirit
Bless all who enter there.
May your Mocassins
Make happy tracks
in many snows,
and may the Rainbow
Always touch your shoulder.
